First and foremost, it is all in the diet. This is the secret. You have to implement the CORRECT figure competition diet to trick your body into dropping body fat and keeping every ounce of lean muscle tissue you have. The WRONG figure prep diet will make you look like a shriveled up prune on stage. You need full muscle bellies on stage with low body fat to create sharp definition.

Some of the not-so-obvious sneaky figure competition tricks come at the last minute, peak week. Peak week is the final week before your figure show where you have a chance to manipulate your diet, training, cardio, water, and even supplements to draw all the water out from under your skin and totally redistribute it directly into your muscle cells. Tight skin with well-rounded muscles show your muscle detail definition well, and will guarantee you a top placement and even a win.

One of the most over-looked figure prep secret is lowering your water intake gradually peak week. Too often, eager figure competitors will cut their water out too far in advance. After a few days with low to no water intake, the body will kick-in to survival mode, thinking it is not going to be receiving sufficient water to maintain proper body function, and therefore the body will begin to RETAIN water. Your peak week water intake MUST be lowered gradually to prevent water retention.
While these handy and sneaky figure competition tricks may seem unconventional, but so is getting your body fat down to 9% or less and oiling up like a basted turkey.
